POSTER
Printing
Poster printing, also referred to as wide format printing, can be done on any size bigger than A3 (420mm x 297mm). Posters are printed on a wide format printer that can print A2 (594mm x 420mm), A1 (841mm x 594mm), A0 (1194mm x 841mm) and we can also do custom sizes. Different substrates are used for different projects, depending on the needs of a specific client.
The standard grammages (weights) we use is 165gsm matt or 175gsm gloss media. We use 80gsm to print plans or architectural drawings. Architectural and engineering firms can mail their plan prints to us in PDF format and they will be printed in no time, ready to be collected in a relatively short time, depending on quantity, of course.
If you would like the posters to be used in a boardroom or stylish corporate environment, a matt paper would be suggested, or even a matt lamination. Lightning in the boardroom may reflect on glossy media or a gloss lamination.
If the image that needs to be printed is a photograph, it is advised that it be printed on glossy media. The print quality is superb.
Once the images are printed, they can be laminated either with gloss or matt. We can laminate from very small size up to 1000mm x 2400mm.
Images for printing can be emailed or, if the file sizes are too big, a transferring platform like “WeTransfer” can be used.
Once the posters are printed, they can be delivered (subject to print quantities and only within the Johannesburg area) or they can be collected from our offices in Douglasdale. Alternatively we can use our courier service for a nominal fee.
HOW MUCH
do posters cost?
Posters are used and seen everywhere. Schools use posters for advertising and also for signs and general information and news. In shopping centres posters are seen everywhere, retailers promote their businesses and advertise specials on posters. Educational institutions often use posters to distribute general notifications to students. Police stations use posters to get information across and to make us aware of any criminal activities or criminals operating in the area. They also print any useful information like emergency telephone numbers and contact details on posters. Gyms use posters to distribute general news and information. They also use posters to show clients how to use the equipment. In bathrooms, posters are often used for advertising as well as showing us how to wash our hands. Even when you walk into a teenager’s room, you will most probably find posters on the walls of movies, favourite characters, motorbikes, art, animal, barbie, and so much more.
Posters can range anything between R25.00 to R455.00 (please take note that these are only averages and the price will depend on size, media, finishing and quantities, please contact us for a more accurate price).
HOW LONG
does it take to print a poster?
If you only need 1 to 5 posters, you can wait while we print them (depending on the machine that is not in use at the time, it is always good to call before and check with us) It does take longer, depending on how many posters you need. Printing on matt media usually prints faster than gloss media. Extra time need to be allowed if you want to laminate.
Posters can be framed or even placed in a snapper frame, to enhance the longevity of a poster it is advisable to laminate them. Posters can be either placed in a postal tube, which makes it easy for travelling purposes, and it keeps in neat, clean and doesn’t damage easily.
Posters are designed to be both eye-catching and informative.
Advertising posters are a typical print promotional technique used by small businesses. A poster includes visual design, images, colours and copy. It provides a message intended to promote brand awareness or call attention to a company event.

ADVANTAGES
of using posters
A poster speaks for itself; the presence of its author is not necessary. It is, therefore, possible to reach a broader audience when compared to presentation limited by time.
It is also possible to present several posters in the same room and at the same time where visitors can have a look at those posters they are interested in. Sometimes as the author, you can present a poster while giving a short introduction. Posters can be used several times and presented at different events.
A poster is suited for people suffering from stage fright and for those who have difficulties when speaking in front of large groups. Standing next to their poster for some time to answer just a few questions is less stressful than talking on your own.
Lets’ consider the advantages of using them in education, how and where they can be used, and how to use them effectively.
Advantages of using posters as a visual aid in the learning process are the following:
- It’s an effective way to catch and hold the attention of pupils or students as well as maintain their interest in the subject.
- Posters can motivate students to learn a specific topic.
- They can help learners to focus on a certain idea, fact, event or process.
- They are convenient both for pupils and teachers as they help students to absorb the material faster.
- Images are more “evocative” than words and can lay the foundation of a variety of associations.
- 65% of people worldwide find learning most effective when it is transmitted visually, and a poster is one of the best ways to do that.
- By having a poster in the classroom, you induce the students to constant learning, even if they look around the classroom.
