THE TRAINING

Manuals

Training Manuals are our forte.  We specialise in the printing of training manuals and have loads of options you can choose from.  Below are different variations but these are only guidelines. Please feel free to discuss your requirements with us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

You can have your training manuals printed in A4/A5 size or even a customised size, if required.

The cover can be printed in black and white or colour, on good quality board.

To create a very professional and long-lasting cover, it would be advisable to laminate the front and back covers. This will extend the lifespan of the book and reduces costs in the long run.

The back cover can also be printed or can be left blank but still be laminated.

You can choose between a gloss or matt lamination.

Text (inside) pages can be printed either in black and white or in colour, and can be single-sided (printed on one side) or double-sided (printed on both sides).

It is even possible to have some text pages in colour and the balance in black and white. The suggested grammage (paper weight) for text pages is 80gsm white bond, but this can be changed to suit your needs.

Our binding options range from normal metal wire binding to plastic binding. Saddle-stitching (stapling) is also an option, but is not a viable option for thick manuals.

When you order high quantities, perfect binding and even pur binding become options too.

Some companies do not want their material bound but rather punched with 2, 3 or 4 punch holes and then inserted into files.

We can complete the entire project, from printing the books to providing the files, inserting a printed cover sheet into the front sleeve of the file and a printed spine sheet into the spine sleeve of the file.

All you have to do is provide us with a soft copy (or even hard copy) of the manuals you need printed and some instructions as to how you need them printed and bound and we will do the rest.

If there are some documents that you prefer not have bound into the actual manual, these can be printed separately and either stapled or kept loose.  You then have the choice to hand these out at any time.

We keep your needs in mind throughout this entire process, and if there are any ideas you might have, please discuss these with us and we’ll see how we are able to accommodate you.

You are welcome to email the documents to us.  If the files are too big, you can use a transferring portal like “WeTransfer” or search the web for other tools. There are many different ones available.

We will then complete the project and have it ready for you to use at your next training or event.

Delivery times vary and depend on the number of manuals or training materials you order as well as the type of binding you require.  It is also possible to order a large number and take part delivery, should the printing become urgent and we don’t have enough time to complete the entire order.

Quantities of 5/10/50 can usually be produced within one day.

For higher quantities we would need more time.

Please speak to us and let us see how we can help you to meet your needs, as we do understand that sometimes short deadlines may occur.

A training manual is a book of instructions, used to improve the quality of a performed task. Training manuals are widely used.
A training manual may be particularly useful as:

  • an introduction to the subject matter before training
  • an outline to be followed during training
  • a reference to the subject matter after training
  • a general reference document
  • a system to reference

A training manual may form an important part of a formal training program. For example, it may help ensure consistency in presentation of content. It may also ensure that all training information on skills, processes, and other information necessary to perform tasks is together in one place.
Training manuals can be designed to be used as:

  • Work books: used in training sessions to provide basic information, examples and exercises.
  • Self-paced guides: designed for trainees to work through on their own.
  • Reference manuals: for containing detailed information on processes and procedures.
  • Handouts: provide general information to support training done during the session.
  • Job aids: offer step-by-step instructions to be used in the workplace.

Training manuals can take on different sizes and forms and can be customised to the client’s needs.

Training manuals normally start with a cover page, which introduces the topic. This is then followed by a contents page with different section and chapter headings and page numbers, so it is easy to find a particular subject you would like to read or study first.

The table of contents is often followed by an introduction, and thereafter the main text or contents begins.

Within the contents, there are literally hundreds of different ways in which information can be presented. You can also insert interactive worksheets that can be used between individuals or even in groups.

Using pictures and humour is a very good and catchy way of grabbing the learner’s attention.

The training manual normally concludes with a bibliography or reference list that shows where the information was sourced. This allows learners to deepen their knowledge by doing more reading or research on a certain topic.

Often a list of recommended reading is also included at the end of the manual.

Pre-Assessment forms are a useful tool to use in conjunction with training manuals if you would like to find out a student’s level of knowledge on a certain subject matter or level of training.

Post-Assessment forms can be used to test the student’s level of learning and establish their progress on training provided.
